Bayer’s compensation philosophy is rooted worldwide in the LIFE values. A basic salary reflecting performance and responsibility is combined with elements based on the company’s success, plus extensive additional benefits.
Bayer provides a competetive Total Direct Cash Compensation package in order to attract, motivate and retain talent in the markets in which we compete. In this way, we aim to offer our employees working conditions that give them a high degree of security and reliability.
The focus of Bayer’s Compensation Philosophy is on Total Direct Cash (i.e., base salary, short-term incentive and long-term incentive, where eligible).
This philosophy covers all employees other than those in a bargaining unit:
- Pay for performance is vital to our success. Higher individual performance can result in higher base pay and incentive payments;
- We are aligned with global interests as our incentive payouts depend on the achievement of financial and qualitative short- and long-term goals that are also in the interest of our shareholders;
- We benchmark our compensation pay practices against our peer groups in the US – they are US-wide benchmarks and adjustments for local markets may occur for non-exempt positions.
